In my few months as a blogger, I’ve never really been into the whole “how many subscribers do I have” or “who’s visiting my page?!?” thing. Partly because I never knew HOW, and partly because I just didn’t care. Now, thanks to Jennifer, I’ve been sprucing up my sidebars, trying to organize, and trying to get more blog-savvy.
Now, I’ve seen Feedjit on quite a few people’s blogs, and always thought it was sort of a neat idea, but didn’t really get it. (It takes me awhile sometimes, okay?!?) I added it to my blog for like, a DAY, and then took it off, because I thought it wasn’t working. In reality, I probably just went about it the wrong way. I tend to do that the first time around. Anyways, as I was saying…I just added Feedjit back last night after reading that post over at Playgroups, and I looked at my Feedjit widget like 20 times before I went to sleep to see if anyone was looking at my blog. And no one was. Only me, myself, and I.
I know, pathetic. But guess what? I glanced at it tonight, while adding a button for Adios Barbie to my sidebar, and…and…and…I’ve got some traffic! Apparently. No one better crush my dreams of blog traffic by telling me that those are just bots and people clicking on the wrong links, understood? I want to believe that someone’s actually looking at my poor little neglected blog ‘o nuffin.
So, I bet you’re just DYING TO KNOW: who’s reading me? Well, since you asked so nicely, I’ll tell you. The most interesting place that popped up was San Salvador. I’m an international sensation, people! Wowee. Apparently, they searched on Google for “good girl gone vegan” and up came my lovely post about my fleeting quest for Veganism.
I’ve also gotten readers from Little Rock, Arkansas, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire (UK, baby!), Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Ontario, Canada, and Saint Anthony, Idaho. Holy tomato, Batman! This is just CAHRAYZEE, right? I mean, I know I don’t get as much traffic as LA during rush hour, but this is exciting stuff. And now, I can’t stop checking it. I almost feel like I’m spying on people or something. It’s sort of fun seeing who gets here and how they do it.
On a sad note, I also signed up for sitemeter.com, and have been tragically disappointed by the apparent lack of visitors so far. It doesn’t help, after being woken up by a 2 year old screaming “UP! UP! Beebee I-Tyne! (Baby Einstein)” to see big fat ZEROES all the way through 2 days of no traffic to your blog.
Anyone have any fun people trackers they like to use? Do you check your stats often?

I heart comments. Make my day?
Looking at Sitemeter used to make or break my day. I forced myself to stop looking at it all the time.
The live feed is addicting, isn’t it!

Texas, here! I just started reading your blog about two weeks ago. Can’t remember where I found you, though. I use Goggle Analytics and I check my stats daily. I’ve had it for about two months now and I’ve already noticed some errors. For instance, someone I knew moved to Oregon and I was curious to see if they ever checked my blog and then one day, Oregon showed up. Then I had three visits. Then about a week later, it was back down to one. Google Analytics is probably about 90 percent accurate. And as a side note, I have really enjoyed your blog for the last two weeks. I’ve added you to my daily reads. :-)
